No, its not one of those freaky digitalising movie tricks. Its O3 taking more steps towards dehumanising its employees. (Apparantly Uberbaus and Miniboss are not on agreement here, but the bigger boss is winning so far.)Practically every company will issue its employees a personal email address where the employee's name is coded in. This was the way with the O3. WAS.
There's a sort of new coding thing going on there and it involves giving people code names and serial numbers. Every dept has its own name but for one dept, the name given by the baus doesn't make sense. It wasn't explained to them what the acronym meant either. OTA??? For an Engineering Dept? What does it mean? Baus should have the courtesy of explaining what it means, cos it could mean something derogatory that only baus understands.
"Yo, call OTA1 here with OTA 13, Bring SBC 3 and MTA2 as well. I want to find out who is doing all this." Sounds like a potential conversation in the future at O3 eh? You have to go and find out and memorise your collegues numbers...
If there is a practical and meaningful reason for this, will some one enlighten me?

They are just inmate numbers like in any prison, so that the warden doesn't have to bother getting to know the prisoners. Just call a number...

Reason is likely because of the high turnover rate so he is implementing this so that external parties may think it is the same person.. i.e. 2 different people will take OTA2 and external parties think it is the same..
Yes, that is the rationale behind the numbering system. But would you rather talk to a Susan this week and then talk to a Helen or John next week or keep talking to Mr. OTA4? I would rather talk to a person with a name than someone who could just as well be a robot or some experimental cyborg.
And obviously so irritating to hear OTAS2 here.But already scheme is changed and now its Mech.Design1,2,3 etc.....
Obviously the other person would ask for a name rather OTA or MEch designe r....
Uberbaus always looks at things from the point of the company...not the customers or suppliers.
That is why he is stepping on everyones toes and offending suppliers, customers, etc. in the process...

Going to make a trip back to O3 this week to chit chat with Uberbaus and would be interesting to see how things are now... Would be a blast! =)
